At Cuenca, human connection played an important role — Mexican financial digital services in 2019 still had to establish the possibility of engaging with real people and tangible ideals.

CASH DEPOSITS

Cuenca didn't have a branch network; our users couldn’t make cash deposits. The design of this page accompanied the launch of our deposit feature in partnership with 7-Eleven. I incorporated the cash deposits icon from the app to create a visual link with this informational section.

The page is divided in four simple blocks, with a clear and friendly visual language emulating how easy the process is. To activate cash deposits, Cuenca requested an identification validation. I used a mockup with an animated GIF to illustrate what's going on — and balanced this awkward moment with the heading "Sonríe (Smile)." This was extended in the launch post where I took care of the art direction.

CARD SLEEVES

The debit card played an important role, and not only because it had the best graphic design across the Mexican fintech ecosystem. It was also the link to Cuenca’s social-responsibility platform. The cards were accompanied by handmade sleeves made by artisans from different parts of Mexico; this is how we gave visibility to our multi-ethnic heritage and the cultural value of Mexican crafts. And it’s how we connected the relevance of both worlds—analog and digital. We also created a video showcasing our creative director and snippets to share the process and intention behind this piece of design.

Using Cecilia Ruiz’s illustrations along with oversized iconography, video, and photography, we celebrated the wealth of techniques and the diversity of our artisans.
